Managing Director

Gareth Hudson

Gareth is the managing director for Smarttrax LTD and has over 20 years of experience working as a P/Way engineer in the rail industry. Starting as a junior engineer for Jarvis he quickly progressed to be a Principal Technical Engineer for both Jarvis and Babcock. Gareth then developed his career as a Project Manager for Babcock, Volker Rail and Smarttrax LTD delivering multi disciplined projects on the railway infrastructure and has a proven record in planning and delivering track renewals and projects.

Technical Director

Terry Gower

Terry is the Technical Director for Smarttrax Ltd. He has worked in the rail industry since 1996. Terry has had various roles including trackman, site engineer, lead engineer, Senior Technical Engineer and Principle Technical Engineer. He also holds various railway competencies including Level 3 Stressing engineer and Linespeed handback level 1 o 4.

Operations Director

Lee Stevens

Lee is the operations director for Smarttrax LTD, Lee has worked in the rail industry since 1996, Lee started as a trackman and worked his way up through the ranks to carry out roles as Supervisor, Works manager, Delivery manager and Operations manager. Lee has vast Knowledge off planning and delivering P -way renewals and Major project work for tier 1 companies such as Balfour Beatty and Network Rail.

OLE Manager

Nick Kilner

Nick Kilner is a seasoned overhead line electrification (OLE) specialist with over 26 years of experience covering all aspects of OLE equipment in the railway industry. He began his railway career in 1998 carrying out PTS work, and in 1999 joined Balfour Beatty (GTBBJV) as a trainee lineman. Since then, Nick has progressed from hands-on site roles to senior leadership, now serving as Operations Director and Contractor’s Responsible Engineer (CRE) at SmartTrax Rail. He brings a practical, safety-first mindset to the delivery of complex electrification projects, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality outcomes from planning through to handback. Passionate about continuous improvement, Nick is dedicated to raising standards and delivering excellence across the industry.
